Alepine Beer recognised by the Guild of Fine Food's Great Taste Awards
Alepine Beer is among the Great Taste winners of 2018
Great Taste, the world’s most coveted food awards, which celebrates the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2018. Out of over 12,634 products to be judged, Alepine Ltd was among a select number awarded a star for fantastic flavour found when blind judged by industry experts tasting Alepine American Pale Ale.
Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food and drink sommeliers, critics, brewers, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food and drink accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind-tasting by hundreds of judges.
David Holme of Alepine Ltd, explains: "It is jolly hard to convince some people (who might not be familiar with your field or area of food or drink) that your new and unrecognised product is actually excellent - in the beer world you might be pitching to a non beer drinking shop owner or restauranteur... to have a Great Taste star we hope will back up our claims that Alepine is really a fantastic product to have stocked and will help both retailers and customers to appreciate that our beer is worth putting on the shelf or in the trolley and then the fridge!"
"We are delighted to receive a star and hope that this good reception of Alepine will help boost sales and then availability of Alepine for skiers and snowboarders in the Alps this winter. We are also very grateful to the bars and outlets that have stocked Alepine so far - both in the Alps and UK. Places like the Boutique Chalet Company, Elephant Bar in Courchevel, Meribar in Meribel and Archer Street Cocktail Bar in London to name a few who have helped us start out and support us by stocking our beer. We hope to develop great relationships with other bars across the Alps and UK who also strive for quality and customer satisfaction"
Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Whether it is vinegar, granola, sparkling wine, bacon, beer or cheese being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar, box or bottle before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of an award.
The panel of judges this year included; MasterChef 2018 champion, Kenny Tutt, chef and food writer, Elly Curshen, eco chef and food writer, Tom Hunt, author and chef, Zoe Adjonyoh, baker Tom Herbert, author and blogger, Izy Hossack, and baker and recipe writer, Martha Collison, as well as food buyers from Harrods, Selfridges and Sourced Market.
